What is Conscientiousness?

Conscientiousness measures an individual's level of organization, reliability, and perseverance. Conscientious employees meet deadlines, maintain high standards, and contribute to process stability. It is the Big Five dimension most predictive of job performance across all occupations.

Impact on work performance

Conscientiousness is the most robust predictor of job performance — validated by meta-analyses across hundreds of thousands of candidates. It drives punctuality, work quality, self-discipline, and the ability to carry complex projects through to completion. At the extreme, very high scores can tip into perfectionism or rigidity when facing change.
